Tickets have just gone on sale for the event, which will be held again at the Aviation Club, the venue for last year's sold out tournament. Last year's winners Liverpool are returning to defend their title and they will face a strong challenge from the current UK champions, Glasgow Rangers. Manchester United and Celtic complete the star-studded four-team line-up. Top former internationals confirmed for the tournament include Ian Rush and John Barnes, both former Liverpool stars; Lee Sharpe and David May from Manchester United; Mark Walters and Nigel Spackman from Glasgow Rangers and Frank McAvennie (Celtic, West Ham and Aston Villa). 'The players are excited about returning to Dubai, after the great reception they got last year', says Masters Football CEO Steve Black. 'They really enjoyed playing in the wonderful atmosphere of the Tennis Stadium.' 'We have an exciting 'Battle of Britain' encounter on the cards with the 2 biggest teams in England and Scotland facing off. So fans need to get their tickets quickly to avoid the disappointment of missing out,' says Ali Haidary, Managing Director of Sport Solutions, exclusive promoters of Masters Football in the Region. 'In addition to the action on the pitch, we have some superb entertainment planned including the UK's top Cheerleaders The Rockettes performing for the first time in Dubai as well as The Final of the Bud Cup and a Freestyle Football Exhibiton,' added Mr. Haidary.
Hi there,
Any news on the Gers squad? Looking to catch up with a few old mates.
Cheers
Shug
Never mind the Rangers squad. I'm more interested in the Rockettes!!!!!
Seriously, really wish I was back out there for it. I'm sure a good day will be had by one and all.
The masters was covered on Showtime Sports last night - George looked a wee bit worse for wear......so nothing unusual there then:)
I missed this event as I only came out on the 10th, but who were playing for the Gers and how did they do?
Is Showtime the best cable / satellite package to go for?
ART currently have the rights to the English Premiership and also pick up SPL games. Showtime currently only have the English Championship (first division) – but will be screening the Premiership next season. Champions League is currently screened on ART and the UEFA Cup on Al Jazeera Sports – so if you want football you have mix and match based on your needs.
I am not sure what the score is in Dubai, with cable subscriptions and how easy it is to customize your subscriptions etc – in Saudi I basically end up with subscriptions to them all.
It will be interesting to see what happens next season with the Premiership going to Showtime, if ART continue with the SPL then we may have more of a chance of all of the games being screened. Anyone with any inside knowledge of what is going on………Norrie I’m looking in your direction.
